Brisbane Urban Elegance: Kristian + Moira

The Tognini name is well known in Brisbane with Kristian Tognini’s father running Tognini’s Hair Skin & Body and his uncle the Tognini’s cafes and bistros around town. So we knew the wedding of Kristian and Moira O’Callaghan was going to be a wonderful family affair – and the hair was going to be gorgeous!

This elegant celebration didn’t disappoint, full of fun, laughter and delightful details. The groom cut a dashing figure beside his gorgeous bride – and we love the sunny splash of yellow in the styling too, so uplifting!

The Proposal
“Kristian proposed in Central Park New York, over a takeaway breakfast from Dean and De Luca. I had no idea. We enjoyed the day walking around Central Park and called our family back home. Kristian had asked my dad a few weeks before who had kept it a secret from my mum! That evening we had an amazing surprise dinner at Spice Market to celebrate.”

Kristian looking all handsome ...

Special Memory
“Taking the time to hug and say thank you to everyone when we were walking down the aisle to the recessional song. (I think our piano player had to replay the song a few times!) It was really worth seeing everyone and being able to show our gratitude to them for attending.”

Perfect spot for some pre-reception pictures, sunset on the grounds of the couple's reception venue GOMA

And lastly, we just love this shot Marcus quickly captured of the couple taking a private moment before turning the corner to announce their arrival at the reception. Congratulations Kristian + Moira!

Nicole's Summer 2012/13 editor's letter

Although October is officially the most popular month to say ‘I do’ in Australia, we think summer has a special place in the hearts of Queensland brides. Not only are couples drawn to the balmy weather and holiday mood, that magical hour as the sun sets lingers so much longer in summer, giving your photographer the opportunity to capture something really amazing.

With that in mind we’ve put a spotlight on locations and outdoor weddings this issue. To enjoy a little fresh air, check our major showcase starting on page 166 which also includes a round-up of some of the most exciting trends to look out for in 2013. One is colour, which we loved using on our cover. The talent behind this gorgeous gown, Anne Bertossi and her team at Paddington Weddings, are currently celebrating 20 wonderful years at their charming Paddington studio and workroom. Big congratulations! We also headed to the forest this issue with the whimsical and gorgeous feature on page 160. One of my favourites from the incredible team at Styled Events. And while I’m on the topics of favourites, I’m offically swooning over the jewellery in our Hidden Gems feature (p.106). I have updated my wish list yet again!

Finally, don’t miss your chance to win a $4000 wedding at the historic Grand View Hotel. You’ll fall in love with the beautiful bayside location and charming history of this unique venue.
