Carleen + Aiden's wedding theme
Pretty in punk!
How Aiden and Carleen Met
Like any great and memorable moment, a complete mess of a situation. We both worked within the same mall complex, I had spied him and often giggled with a mate as we snuck around his store, stalking him if you will.
I had been introduced twice by a mutual friend, which I had left rather quickly feeling embarrassed. 12 months later, this mutual friend, phoned me saying that Aiden was moving to Melbourne to escape his previous life, ready for new friendships, only months after I too had done the same move; Brissy - melbourne. So she gave me his number and told him I would be in contact, of course I got the number wrong and it took me about 3 weeks of assuming he wasn't interested in coffee. I eventually got the correct number and BOOM!
He came over, and we spent the night at the Espy in St Kilda, discussing shared band loves, cartoons and comics!
Proposal
After I had relocated back to Brisbane for work and we had been apart for over a year visiting on odd weekends, I had purchased tickets to a friends gig on the Sunshine Coast planning to surprise him when he arrived late one Friday. My surprise ruined his surprise for dinner on saturday! So he then chose to just go with it. He gave me a comic he had spent 6 months preparing, designing and finally printed, with pages detailing how we met, our travels across country, late night calls, etc with finally the ending page portaying us growing old together. We later chose a ring from an American designer we found on Etsy.
What Made the Wedding Uniquely 'Ours'
We designed it, we researched it, we yelled about it and cried about it. We owed not a single cent the day of the wedding as we paid off what little we had to cover weeks before the big day, it was a huge de-stress! All of our friends had a part in helping us, every little touch, every piece of sticky tape & twine, they helped with music, photography, hair, make up, food and the venue.

Details
Aiden is a prepress and design artist so together we designed banners, big hanging hearts, we made our own tissue pom poms (simplicity!). We also printed pink/black bandanas as table centers and bought a huge set of fairy lights off Gumtree.
