TREND OFF! Bright & Bold V Soft & Romantic

Recently on Facebook we asked you which theming you liked best, was it soft and romantic, with gorgeous pastels and lace, or would it be bright and bold, with hard hitting reds and gorgeous yellows?

Both styles are beautiful but there's only one winner ...

and it is Soft & Romantic with 67% of the votes

Here's our recommendation to duplicate this look for yourself ...

Palette:

Pastels in all hues are ideal for a soft & romantic wedding, for those looking for more contrast in an accent colour, think a pale grey like Jen and Tim had.

Invites & Stationery:

Be sure to bring in your beautiful palette of pastels into your invitations. With a soft theme like this one the aim is to use what's called a 'serif' font (that's the little curly bits on the letters) with a simpler 'san-serif' (without the curly bits) font for your text. Reception Styling:

Simple clear glassware and centrepieces of flowers in your colour. Karina and Iman used doilies underneath the crystal vases to emphasise the softness of the roses.

The dress:

Delicate beading, intricate embroidery, lace, beautiful flowing fabrics and a fitted waist are all good things to look for when finding your 'Soft & Romantic' dress. This gown by Jennifer Gifford Designs has a glorious diamante and floral single shoulder strap that continues on down over the bust to the waist. The pale peach colour is unusual but beautifully striking.

The bridesmaids:

Whether you go floor-length or tea-length, your bridesmaids gowns should be a soft colour that highlights your colour scheme. Jen (above) has dressed her bridesmaids in high-neck pink frocks that are simple but gorgeous and highlight the delicate details of her own dress.

The Wedding Collective presents the Gala Showcase 2013

This year has been ALL about the 1920s and Gatsby styling, and why not? It's absolutely stunning! Coming up is another tribute to the vintage style as The Wedding Collective host their 2013 wedding showcase gala.

The event, hosted by Kimberley Busteed of Channel 7, will cover all aspects of wedding planning. There's a major-prize draw to be won, and a glance at George Wu's latest collection.

Last week we gave away two double passes to the upcoming extravaganza. We chose our winners based on their one-word descriptions of the vision of their wedding.

We had many memorable responses, but our winners were:

Katrina Borg with "Mittsommernachtstraum" (German for Mid-Summer night's dream)

Best Blue Bits!

We've been obsessing over blue this week and while shuffling through our image library looking for delightful images we came across some that we had to share. We love these blue additions to weddings - no matter how small!

Shoes!

Statement shoes are always a bit of fun, even if they're hidden underneath a full length dress, you know that you're wearing a bit of glam on your tootsies.

We love the mix in hues of these wedding shoes, the diamantes on the brides shoes are subtle but the speckle of blue helps to tie everything together.

Not really sure if we want our guests reading at our reception, but these cute blue books are a perfect match to this vintage camera and jarful of flowers.

The delicate touch of these little blue ribbons would tie a blue colour palette in nicely.

We LOVE this personalised bouquet made out of brooches and jewellery, the blue button bouquets for the bridesmaids ties in well too.

The stunning blue of these aisle florals is a standout feature, especially when sat against these white-white benches. Beautiful!

Just FYI for brides, if you're looking for some blue flowers for your decor or bouquet we love these varieties that can come in beautiful shades of blue: sweetpea, orchids, iris, hydrangeas, foxglove, agapanthis, forget me nots, delphinium and the lovely cornflower. There are, of course, loads more - just ask your florist!

Something Blue...

This week is all about blue. Whether it's your accent colour, main colour, or just a little something to fit an old tradition, blue is a favourite for weddings. For the rest of the week we're going to share with you some styling ideas all the way from cakes to clothes. Today we're going to share some potential wedding colour palettes.
